Well, we are five years old, for starters. And on the occasion of our fifth anniversary, we added something new in the form of a gift shop with a small selection of flowers. So far, the toko kecil has had a very good response from clients who love to be able to pick up a present without going on an extra shopping trip.

Dijon Gifts and Flowers: Open Daily 10-6

The gift shop is open daily from 10 – 6 and features small and reasonably priced items suitable for gifts for all ages. Many are boxed to go and the shop has a collection of gift cards, papers and ribbons for sale for those who want more than just a box.
At the moment, there is a black and gold stuffed elephant, coin napkins and placemats, a gorgeous book on Sumba, postcards from Saritaksu, a variety of candles, jewelry and scarves plus a stone backgammon set.

Orchids from Milo Bali Orchids are lovely to look at as well as being a perfect on-going present for someone special in your life. A selection of cut flowers might include sedap malam or small chrysanthemums or carnations. Dijon also takes orders for special arrangements to be done by professionals.

At DIJON new things include a whole new line of Italian crackers and cookies, enthusiastically welcomed by all the Italianos in Bali. We have also increased our line of frozen foods to include not only the wonderful Indian “TASTE OF INDIA” line from Jakarta but also breaded shrimp, and beef plus lamb sausages.

An expanded line of fresh fish cut into serving size portions, our own DIJON line of meat pies in the freezer, new packaging to make the famous chocolate truffles and lamingtons even more attractive as gift items as well as new items to tempt the sweet tooth: Almond Clusters, Peanut Cluster, and DIJON cookies.

While at THE CORNER, a new high speed blender will ensure a variety of cold drinks. Waffles or scrambled eggs have joined the breakfast menu and we are putting the freshly baked muffins into the café as well as the shop. We are also taking orders for AIRPLANE lunches, packs of food to take on board to avoid airline food boredom syndrome. Details soon on this one. More and more things to read for sale too, including Bali’s own English language newspaper, the BALI TIMES, published every Friday.

Book Swap

The very popular two year old book swap has a new time now on Saturday afternoons (usually the last Saturday of the month) 1-4 at the café. Many more people seem to have free time on Saturdays to do errands than those who are willing to go out on Sundays; thus the change. The book swap is a no money deal; bring one, take one swap and we offer fiction ( quality and romance), non fiction, what we call “war and gore” for those who like murder and adventure, some kids books and a few non English offerings.

Aceh donations

DIJON was an active participant in the collecting of goods for the survivors in Aceh and we helped send off 6-7 containers in the first two weeks after the tsunami. We continue to help where we can and always have places to give anything our customers want to contribute to helping Indonesians in need.

There is always something new going on at Dijon, as we keep trying to make Dijon an even better place to shop for food specialities from home.
